The thriving and established arts scene in Medway offers a range of arts activities and events with a local, regional and international significance.
The theatres in the area provide an exciting range of entertainment for all ages. When planning a visit to the area, why not relive the West End greats and see some of the world's greatest tribute bands as well as many other muscials at The Central Theatre in Chatham? The nearby thriving arts centre at The Brook Theatre offers a mixture of professional theatre and community productions, along with comedy, jazz and folk evenings and a whole range of exciting dance and drama classes and workshops.
At the Medway Little Theatre, in Rochester, there are regular performances of a quirky and intimate nature, plus a wide range of local productions.
The area has a fast developing arts scene. Rochester's historic High Street is home to a host of lively cafe bars, museums, independent shops and galleries with exhibitions of affordable original art and prints. Visit the contemporary art gallery at Medway Visitor Information Centre where regular local and touring exhibitions can been seen and just a short stroll down the road, occasional art exhibitions at Eastgate House.

A short distance away at Fort Pitt, you can visit temporary exhibitions at the Zandra Rhodes Gallery, which can be found at the Rochester campus of the University of the Creative Arts. The Nucleus Arts Centre, a recently opened converted mews, just off Chatham High Street, is where local artists exhibit in the gallery and patronise an on-site café.
Medway's culture scene will welcome the new art gallery at No.1 Smithery in The Historic Dockyard Chatham. A stimulating programme of internationally renowned touring exhibitions bagan in July 2010 with an exhibition of Stanley Spencer's breathtaking Shipbuilding on the Clyde paintings.
