Chatham

Chatham is a fascinating maritime destination with a history stretching back more than 400 years.

The great naval dockyard in Chatham, produced many famous ships, including Nelson's flagship HMS Victory.  Set in 32 hectares (80 acres), this wonderfully preserved site, now The Historic Dockyard Chatham, is a maritime destination with numerous galleries and attractioChatham Maritimens to explore.

Nearby is the Dockside Outlet Centre.  What better way to pass the time by experiencing designer shopping by the water's edge with discounted stores selling famous leading brands all under one roof.  

Make the most of your visit to Chatham Maritime by stepping back in time to Victorian England at Dickens World and explore the life, times and work of this great author.  There are several places to eat and drink here, both inside and outside, plus a nine-screen multiplex Odeon cinema showing the latest blockbuster movies, with ample free parking.

In the heart of Chatham, is the Pentagon Shopping Centre where all the leading brand name stores can be found.  The Pentagon has nearly 100 shops, restaurants, cafes, an indoor bowling alley and ladies fitness centre.     

The Brook Theatre near the centre of Chatham is of great architecural and cultural importance.  The Central Theatre and Dickens World's Britannia Theatre offers great family and evening entertainment from theatre and dance, live music and comedy nights.  

The Napoleonic Fort Amherst, stands proudly over looking the River Medway and played an important role defending the dockyard against landward attack right up to the Second World War.
