Edith May Thames Sailing Barge
The ‘Edith May’ is a fully restored example of the iconic Thames sailing barges that would ply their trade under canvas alone.
At one time, thousands of these craft could be seen on the Thames and Medway, but now only a handful remain. Built in 1906 and re-launched in 2010, she now carries passengers in her cargo hold instead of grain.
Berthed at Lower Halstow offers seasonal trips departing from Chatham Maritime, opposite Upnor Castle, 1hr, 3hr and full day excursions are available with a range of catering options.
Limited to 12 passengers per trip, it is an intimate experience where you can learn about the history of the Medway and even help crew this most historic of vessels.
