Rochester Choral Society is a community choir founded in 1873 with 90 singers who perform regularly in Rochester Cathedral.
To celebrate our 150th Anniversary we commissioned an original composition from local musician, Thomas Hewitt Jones, which brings to life the fascinating history and character of Rochester. Thomas Hewitt Jones is an award-winning composer of contemporary classical and commercial music.
Since winning the BBC Young Composer Competition in his teens, his music has been published by many of the major music publishers and is frequently heard in concert and on radio, TV and in the cinema. He is also the composer of The Funny Song, which went mega-viral on TikTok. The new creation is called Regards From Rochester, and the world premiere will take place in a concert at Rochester Cathedral on Saturday 18th March at 19.00. The programme will also include Handel’s Four Coronation Anthems featuring the iconic Zadok the Priest. We are delighted to welcome The Carducci String Quartet to lead the Rochester Sinfonietta orchestra under the baton of John Mountford. Don’t miss this unique event.
