Medway has a thriving cultural and creative scene, so you'll be sure to find plenty of things to enjoy during your visit.
Medway hosts more than 30 days of free festivals, events and cultural programmes each year, more than anywhere else in the south-east. These include the Rochester Sweeps, Dickens and Dickensian Christmas festivals, as well as the annual Christmas market.
Although the usual events programme has been impacted by the pandemic, this summer will see an exciting arts events programme linked to Medway's bid to the UK City of Culture 2025.
Heritage attractions including the Historic Dockyard Chatham and Rochester and Upnor Castles also host popular events programmes, including the Rochester Castle Concerts, Rapture Gaming & Creative Festival, Salute to the '40s and the Festival of Transport & Steam.
Summer Festivals and Events 2021
An exciting programme of new festivals and events will come alive across Medway. They’ll form various shapes, sizes and guises - allowing families and friends to come together and witness some amazing cultural scenes and displays.
From outdoor art galleries and large sculptures to colourful parades and live music, we promise to captivate your imaginations and provide you with memories that will last a lifetime…
All of our events will adhere to social distancing guidelines that are in place at the time.
The Brook and Central Theatres have a great line-up of music, comedy, dance, drama and children's entertainment. Summer 2021 will also see the return of outdoor theatre and outdoor cinema at our heritage attractions.
Get healthy and active with programmes and major community events including the Medway Big Ride and Medway Mile, as well as major sports events hosted at Medway Park.
In addition, there are plenty of outdoor activities at our country parks that you and the family can take part, including family craft and activity days, workshops and trails.
