Rochester Choral Society is a 151 year old community choir from the Medway towns.
Welcome to our concert at St. George's Centre near the Chatham Historic Dockyards, built in 1903 and previously an HMS Pembroke Royal Navy arts and crafts-style chapel. Bob Chilcott's Requiem was composed in 2010 and is an uplifting work of meditation and reflection.
It is a melodically inventive setting of Latin texts from the Missa pro defunctis and the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. John Rutter's Gift of Life: Six Canticles of Creation was composed in 2015 and is a choral celebration of the living earth and its creation.
It embraces a mystical kaleidoscope of moods culminating in the inspirational Believe in Life.
Conducted by John Mountford.
