The summer holidays are upon us, and we have plenty of exciting and unique activities for you and the kids to enjoy over the next month. From exploring the beautiful heritage of Medway with our Summer Trails, flying down the River Medway in a Red2Red speed boat, to soaring down the slopes at the ski centre – there’s plenty of reasons that you #MustVisitMedway this summer.

Discover the scenic and historic sights of Medway through our family-friendly Summer Trails, which are taking place throughout the summer holidays at locations including Rochester Castle, The Guildhall Museum, Eastgate House, Temple Manor and Upnor Castle. It’s a chance to bask in the summer sunshine, whilst also learning some fun-facts about each location along the way – but that’s not all, as each trail has a reward of a special button badge upon completion, as well as a £5 voucher once a participant (under the age of 17) has completed all the trails and received all the stamps in their special trail booklet.

Why not make a full day of our trails and bring a picnic to enjoy on the beautiful castle grounds at Rochester and Upnor. Alternatively take a stroll down Rochester high street and try one of the many fantastic independent restaurants, most of which we have information and blogs about right here on the Visit Medway site for you to check out!

For anyone looking for a thrilling experience, we have just what you need… Red2Red’s speedboating experience. This ‘Historic Tour’ offers a high-octane view of Medway’s most famous attractions, including the Historic Dockyard which is home to another of our most unique and exciting activities in the ‘Monsters of the Deep’ exhibition. Just around the corner is another equally unique and exciting attraction… Ninja Warrior! You can climb, jump and swing across a number of obstacles, as seen on the hit television series in what is immense fun for the whole family.

Speaking of unique, Diggerland is a family-friendly environment where the whole family can drive, operate and enjoy over 20 attractions and 100 machines. There’s plenty for younger ones to do too, with a bouncy castle, indoor soft play area and a ‘little tikes’ play zone. However, if you’re less into diggers and saws and more into monkeys and tiger paws, then Fenn Bell Zoo is the perfect place for you. The wonderful conservation project was started with just two Kune Kune pigs and has now grown to a wide range of animals including otters, birds of paradise, monkeys, wild cats and more! Medway’s first licensed zoo offers a range of animal encounter experiences, and prides itself on educating youngsters about animals and their environments.
